Dogs Got Class® STAR Private Lesson Programs are individually designed to focus on what’s most important to you. If we need to start from scratch to achieve your desired goals, your dog’s training program will reflect those necessary steps. Each program will strive to attain the harmony you’re wanting in your home and while out walking. They will help alleviate your stress and frustration towards your dog’s unwanted behavior ~ not listening to you!

Together we will explore new ways to meet your dog’s needs for physical exercise and mental stimulation, so you may enjoy your lives together!

ONE-STAR Program:
Basic Obedience

We will train for a solid foundation in basic manners: Sit and Watch, Down-from a Stand and Come. Committed family humans, doing their weekly training homework, will also learn to train Impulse Control Behaviors: Sit-Stay, Down-Stay, Wait and Leave It (Leave it is not the same as Drop it). We will introduce loose leash walking and address jumping issues if necessary.

Training impulse control behaviors will amaze you with how focused your dog really is. Your ability to get your dog’s attention away from something that will or is about to trigger unwanted behavior, while out walking, will give you the calm you desire at your end of the leash. Jumping on guests, entering your home, will become a behavior in your rear view, replaced with a sitting dog.

TWO-STAR Program:
Advanced Training

After it’s determined that your dog’s basic manners are built on a solid foundation and that your dog’s Impulse-Control Behaviors are in place but may need strengthening, training will begin where your dog’s present training level truly exists.

We will train for the #1 safety behavior ~ recall, coming when called. We will strengthen your dog’s good manners when guest arrive ~ no jumping /keeping four on the floor. We will take our private lessons outdoors, training for good behavior in public. We call this ‘taking it on the road.’

If family humans do their daily dog training, following their dog trainer’s instructions ~ no short cuts ~ we will add more distractions that will strengthen your dog’s recall and good manners while out in public.
