Potty Breaks for your puppy while you’re at work?

Our Potty Break Program includes Basic Obedience Training & Socialization

This program is designed for puppies 8-16 weeks of age. For puppies 5 to 6 months of age, we will develop a program based on each individual puppy’s specific training needs and its previous critical socialization history.

Puppy break programs will be designed to fit your puppy’s break needs.

Puppies need a potty break every 1, 2 or 3 hours, depending upon their age, activeness, breed size and specific needs. Puppies younger than 20 weeks (5 months) have not yet developed full bladder control. “Holding it” varies from puppy to puppy.

Young puppies cannot tolerate long walks and their mental concentration is very short, we will use our 50 minute session with your puppy to fit its individual present mental & physical capacity.

We will aim for what your specific desires are for your puppy, plus:

  • Two 10 minute walks ~ one when we arrive and one just before we leave.
  • In between walks we’ll spend up to 5 minutes training (less or more, depending upon puppy’s concentration). Training includes getting use to harm free equipment: a flat collar, harness and leash, and slowly introducing the concept of “sit”. Teaching to keep four paws on the floor early will help prevent unwanted jumping behavior. How this is taught is important. We will avoid letting your puppy experience unwanted levels of stress and frustration~ both lead to behavior issues in the future.
  • Up to 15 minutes of play time.
  • 5 minutes of outdoor environment introductions. For example: walking on different surfaces, sitting on a bench watching people go by and listening to different outdoor sounds~just to name a few possibilities.
  • After our last walk, we will spend 5 minutes indoors, or longer if we’ve had to shorten an earlier outdoor activity, with your puppy, quietly settling her/him in to being left alone. Hopefully your puppy will fall asleep before we leave your home.

If weather temperatures or other conditions do not permit us to perform outdoor activities outside, we will go indoors, in a safe public place, keeping up with your puppy’s introduction to the world outside of its family home. Our goal is to help you and your puppy avoid a stressful adolescence period.

Adolescence begins around 5 or 6 months of age and sometimes older, depending on the dog. At this age their silly puppy behavior begins to shed and hormonal influence arrive! With everyone’s committed training involvement, your puppy will have the foundation required to mature into a well behaved adolescent dog, and allow you to experience happiness with your new family member.

Your required human participation, following all training instructions will help your puppy succeed!

Our Basic Obedience Training Program is a great continuation training program for your adolescent dog’s good manners training.
